Ingrid Calame: Trace

On a recent trip to Edinburgh, I discovered an artist exhibiting at the Fruitmarket Gallery who inspires me greatly. American artist Ingrid Calame creates beautifully coloured, delicate traces and drawings loosely based on decay. Calame traces things such as stains and cracks on the ground before layering and creating something very exciting. See examples of her work below.

I ♥ MCR

Inspired by the riots, I dedicated my summer brief to the city that is Manchester; my birthplace and home-town. Inspired by line-artist Robinson, I have created a series of images that could be applied to a wide range of products. Show your support for MCR.

Inside Out

A quick brief, designing a print suitable for wearable garments taking inspiration from our identity and human bodies. I created a range of design ideas and had them printed onto plain white T-Shirts for maximum impact. I looked closely at meat and flesh and used this to create my print design.

Summer Florals

O.k so everybody's done it right: Summer + Floral's = Obvious, right? Whilst taking part in a design competition set by Diane Harrison Designs Ltd. I decided to do just this - my own way. Producing imagery suitable for bedding is not something I had done before and I am not a fan of the obvious. However, I feel I have created abstract imagery which is saleable (check) yet contemporary.

..................Oh and Diane Harrison liked it - yay!
