Made For Manchester - Asia Triennial II

ATM is a festival currently taking over our city centre - a cultural exchange between British and Indian artists exploring each others methods, traditions and lifestyles. Having exhibitions in 18 venues across the city makes it accessible to all. I was lucky enough to work with the Craft and Design Centre in Manchester's Northern Quarter to help set-up their contribution to the festival. Works from local artists that have either commissioned pieces or took part and worked in India is the main focus , artists include Alison Welsh (Course Leader for BA Fashion at Manchester School of Art), Lynn Setterington (Textile Artist and Senior lecturer of Embroidery at Manchester School of Art), CJ O'Neill, Steve Dixon, Amanda Ravetz, Lokesh Ghai, Sahil and Sarthak and Jane Blease.


Other venues include The Cornerhouse, John Rylands Library, The Chinese Arts Centre, Manchester Museum, The Manchester Art Gallery, The Whitworth Art Gallery, International 3, Islington Mill, CUBE Gallery, Piccadilly Train Station, The Castlefield Gallery, Holden Gallery, Manchester Cathedral, Madlab, Bury Art Museum, The Peoples History Museum, Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre and The Manchester Craft and Design Centre.

Ingrid Calame: Trace

On a recent trip to Edinburgh, I discovered an artist exhibiting at the Fruitmarket Gallery who inspires me greatly. American artist Ingrid Calame creates beautifully coloured, delicate traces and drawings loosely based on decay. Calame traces things such as stains and cracks on the ground before layering and creating something very exciting. See examples of her work below.
